Personal Notes: Spring
is here!~ I am SO happy. Spring is the
time to renew. It’s a new
season, the new buds and blooms are here.
More veggies are in season, babies are being born in nature and on and
on…. I recently just completed
a week-long detoxifying cleanse and am ready for all things new. Many interesting things coming down the
pike – so stay tuned!
Conducting a cleanse gave me
new found energy and clarity. If you

refreshing but also has many medicinal uses.
It can reduce viruses and bacteria.
It also improves circulation of energy, blood and lymph. Peppermint relives spasms, increases perspiration
and tones the digestive system. Spearmint is helpful for fevers, hiccups,
indigestion and flatulence.

Featured Recipe
This is a great spring soup
– it is NOT split pea soup – rather, much lighter and energizing. It tastes like Spring in a bowl!
Minted Spring Pea Soup (Serves
4)
2
leeks, cleaned and cut into thin rings
1 T
olive oil
1 pound
peas, cooked (to reduce time use frozen)
2 cups
water or vegetable broth
2 T fresh
mint, chopped finely
Salt and
pepper
Sauté
leeks in olive oil until tender. Add peas
and water and simmer 30 minutes. Add
mint and pulse briefly all above in food processor. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve warm or chilled.

Spring Clean You!

You
spring clean your house, you spiff up your wardrobe for the new season,
perhaps you even take your car in for a tune up. So much effort is made in this regard at
this time of year. Why not do the same
for your body? We could ALL use a
little internal Spring cleaning, regardless of how well or poorly we live or
eat.
Benefits of Internal Cleansing
include:
New
found energy and clarity – if you are using so much energy to store and eliminate the
“gunk” that has accumulated within imagine how different you
would feel if you cleaned some of it out.
Relief
from symptoms
– often symptoms we are experiencing: fatigue, irritably, bloating,
gas, pain, allergies or sensitivities are a result of toxins lurking in the
body. Eliminating or at least reducing
the amount of toxins in our body can allow relief from these symptoms.
Resetting
goals around eating
– let’s face it, we don’t all eat well everyday. It can be one little something that leads
us to a downfall and then we are somehow stuck in the space of poor eating.
Mixing it up, changing the cycle can rid us of these new found habits.
Setting
new intentions in our life – again, if you are using so much energy to process
and eliminate toxins or are stuck in an unhealthy way of eating – how
can you get to a new place? Life moves
forward always – we need to be able to move with it.
Sleep
Issues –
some sleep issues are caused by poor food choices today or cumulatively. Cleansing the body can rid our bodies of
the internal chaos keeping us up at night.
What the difference between a fast
and a cleanse?
A fast is
exactly that, you are not eating. One form of fasting is juice fasting where
you are ingesting fruit and/or vegetable juices. Rather, while on a cleanse you ARE eating
food. You are eating a very clean diet
– one that is designed to open up the body and to eliminate things that
have built up – toxins, mucus, congestion, excess waste in the colon.
Either way, you are making progress in breaking down stored toxins.
Moral of the story – we clean almost everything
we own occasionally – why not our bodies too? Spring is a GREAT time to do so.
